While some people love the fit of their Zyppah immediately, many of our customers find that the device takes some time to get used to -- think of it as a short training period while you and your Zyppah get to know one another. As with any oral appliance, getting used to the sensation of having it in your mouth is key. It is very helpful to practice wearing it during the day. In fact, we recommend that you don’t try using it for a full night until you can wear it for an hour during the day time. Don’t lose hope or patience. For some customers, it can take several weeks to become truly comfortable with your Zyppah appliance, but the results are well worth it. Remember, you didn't develop the snoring habit in one night, it makes sense that it will take some time to eliminate it.

For some customers, the Zyppah appliance offers immediate results and instantly more restful sleep. For most, it takes time to become accustomed to having something in your mouth all night. With normal use, your Zyppah should be replaced every 3-4 months. If you grind your teeth, you may need to replace it more often. Zyppah offers a Loyalty program where we will send you a new appliance every few months at a discounted rate.

There are many devices that claim to be effective; however, there is only one ZYPPAH. In a clinical study, it was proven to be 91% effective. If you decide not to use our cleanser then use a non alcohol based mouthwash
and dilute with distilled water. Use a squirt bottle, spritz and immediately rinse in cold water, never warm or hot after initial molding.

Sleep Apnea is a serious condition and needs to be monitored by a medical professional. We recommend using a doctor that is Sleep Certified (www.sleepcertified.com). In fact, if you bring your Zyppah in when you go see a Sleep Certified clinician, they will give you twice what you paid for your Zyppah toward treatment. While Zyppah can help prevent the snoring and poor sleep associated with sleep apnea, we recommend that you discuss your sleep apnea with your physician and see if Zyppah will complement your recommended treatment plan.

We recommend waiting six months after the completion of dental work before using any oral appliance, unless previously discussed with your dentist. We do not recommend using the appliance if you have gum disease.

Zyppah has been successfully used with many patients who have dentures however it is more challenging. xYou fit the Zyppah over the Dentures. You have to wear your Dentures to bed when you use the Zyppah which is a good thing. In some cases where the Zyppah is falling out of your mouth, we recommend getting and using a “Chin Strap” with the Zyppah. This combination will often provide excellent results.

If you have crowns, you should always consult your dentist when using an oral appliance. Should they approve, having them help with the molding process will eliminate any complications.

We’re sorry, but the Zyppah appliance is not recommended for people who suffer from TMJ. Once your TMJ issues are handled and you are pain-free, consult with your Dentist as they might then approve your using a Zyppah. Yes! We’re happy to say that the Zyppah appliance is 100% latex and BPA free. Still, when you are known to be allergic to items like “Latex”, it is always smart to test them during the day while you are awake for at least an hour to insure there is no issue. If you have any kind of adverse reaction, immediately stop using the Zyppah and get medical help.

Zyppah will still work for you. Due to the grinding, you may have to replace it more often, but it will reduce the damage that grinding does to your teeth.

Almost everyone’s front 6 teeth are the same width and even though your back teeth might be outside the appliance, it will still work very effectively. Additionally, the soft material when heated, can be moved wider to make the appliance achieve a better fit during the molding phase. If you have a slight underbite, then do not jut out your jaw during the molding process. Instead, leave your lower jaw in its normal position as much as possible. If you have a more pronounced overbite, you can try turning the appliance upside down to achieve a more comfortable fit.

Depending on the severity of your overbite, you may be able to use the Zyppah appliance. A more severe overbite may require a more specialized appliance available through a Sleep Certified professional.

The Zyppah appliance is designed to fit the average mouth. If it is either too large or too small for a comfortable fit, a more specialized device from Sleep Certified would be more appropriate. The Zyppah appliance is designed to fit securely in your mouth through its molding process. If your appliance isn’t molded properly, you can remold it to achieve a better fit. Please contact our customer service team at (800) 875-3370 for direction.

In most cases, there is no need for a chin strap. If your appliance is fitting comfortably but it keeps falling out or you are experiencing dry mouth, then purchasing an inexpensive chin strap will solve these issues. If you are having these issues, a chin strap will in most cases, make the Zyppah even more effective.

We definitely don't want you to sacrifice pain for relief. Please stop using the Zyppah immediately and call our customer service team at (800) 875-3370. We have some useful tips that will provide a better outcome during the remolding process.

If you have never used an oral appliance before, this is a normal reaction. Your brain is interpreting the Zyppah appliance as food and your glands are reacting accordingly! With time and patience, this will subside. Wearing the appliance for small periods of time throughout the day and for one hour before bed will allow you to get used to the appliance and stop the excessive saliva production before falling asleep. This typically takes a few days up to 3 weeks.

Some of our customers have found that using any oral device causes their throats and nose to close as part of a protective instinct, which blocks the airways and causes breathing difficulties. We have found that using nasal strips in conjunction with your appliance eliminates these reactions. It is also very helpful to wear the appliance for small periods of time throughout the day -- start with 5-10 seconds and slowly work up from there. This will allow you to become accustomed to having the appliance in your mouth. Do not try to wear the Zyppah to bed until you can comfortably wear it for at least an hour while awake during the day. This will probably take an adaptation period from 1 - 3 weeks.

Don’t worry, this issue is easily fixed! Dip the back of the appliance into hot water for 10 seconds and pull down on the strap gently to loosen. Then place it back in your mouth and while biting down, push your tongue against the strap to continue stretching it for another 60 seconds.

The Zyppah appliance is a self-molding, boil-and bite-device that is designed to fit your unique bite, while the TAP device is a custom-made, adjustable appliance that has to be fitted by a Dentist and is therefore much more expensive. The key difference however is the Zyppah patented tongue strap. The TAP works by bringing your jaw forward but doesn’t directly address the tongue falling back, one of the primary causes of Snoring. The Zyppah is the only mouthpiece that both brings the jaw forward and keeps the tongue from falling back.

The Herbst device is an adjustable metal appliance. The Zyppah appliance is not adjustable--instead, it is a self-molding, boil-and bite-device that forms to fit your mouth.
